The family wishes to send a special thank you to the staff at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital, 5 West and St. Above all else, Ben was a family man and a huge supporter of his grandsons and all their activities. After teaching Ben enjoyed his retirement playing slow pitch for the Senior Provincial team, golfing, travelling, playing pool, and was an avid fan of the Saskatchewan Roughriders, the Medicine Hat Tigers and the Blue Jays. During his teaching career he coached numerous teams in a variety of sports. He continued to teach at Ursaline until 1963 when he moved to Medicine Hat where he taught at St. Ben and Sheilagh were married on April 3, 1961, at Holy Rosary Cathedral in Regina. He rejoined the teaching profession and taught at Ursaline High School. Ben moved to Regina and worked with Delta Finance Company.

This is where he met his future bride, Sheilagh McGrath. In 1956, Ben moved to Moose Jaw where he worked at Investors Syndicate and Mannings Biscuits “Dad’s cookies”. Upon graduation, Ben taught at Grassington and Manybones schools and then Rockglen Elementary where he was very active with the Kinsmen Club and the hardball league in the area. In 19, he attended Teacher’s College in Moose Jaw. Franciscus and the Elsas High School in Vibank where he graduated from grade 12. Ben was born on June 23, 1929, at the home farm in Vibank, SK. Ben was predeceased by his parents Jacob and Eleanora his loving wife of 52 years, Sheilagh an infant son, Sean daughter-in-law, Suzanne one sister and four brothers. Left to cherish and honour Ben’s memory are his two sons, Pat (Tanis), Greg (Wendy) daughter, Shannon (Steve ) English six grandsons, Spencer (Alexa), Jamin (Alison), Cody (Breanna), Josh (Tori), Sean (Melissa), and Jason one great-grandson, Liam sisters-in-law, Virginia Lockert, Gayle Olson and Loretta (Hugh) Hermary as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
